This PIC above is ME dreaming!

About having

a place that I can return

to time and time again in France!

And I finally did it!

If you have been following along with my story, you know that “mon amour et moi” purchased a fractional property* sight unseen in Vieux Nice|Old Nice this past year.

We finally got to visit this summer and the moment we walked in we were in love.

Our east-facing balcony with a gorgeous restaurant below!

So beautifully decorated with Mediterranean colours; yellow, red, orange, and turquoise.  Windows on three sides; two bedrooms; two bathrooms; fully equipped kitchen.

I even found a splatter cover in one of the drawers.

A splatter cover!

I don’t even have one of those at home,  but I am getting one now!

Living room/dining room

Lovely tile touches throughout

All the furniture has a bit of whimsy!

There are two balconies, one facing east where we eat breakfast every morning and one facing north where we eat lunch or dinner —that is if we are not out at any of the restaurants, bistros, brasseries, or cafés right at our doorstep.

Nice’s most famous hotel on the Promenade des Anglais by the sea.

The architecture is sublime here, a mix of Belle Époque, Art Deco, and Baroque where the pastel colours are more Italian than French, as the ocean-front city is so close to and influenced by that neighbouring country.

NIce’s main square Place Massena— oh the colours!

Our apartment is on a corner of two pedestrian streets so no cars are allowed.

There is a grocery store, a bakery, and clothing stores galore only steps away.

So fresh croissants and baguettes my friends!

Oh yes indeed.

Mon amour happily goes out to fetch them while I lounge about in my PJs.

The beach is a mere two blocks away!

Hmmm. Which chair should I pick?

Why Nice and Not Paris!

Well, I did consider a few apartments in Paris.

They too were stunning but when I thought about being on the Riviera, with more than 300 days of sunshine, well the choice was obvious.

And I will always have Paris! Convenient to fly into and out of adding visits on each end.

Note: A Fractional Property means that along with 12 other couples, we actually own and maintain the property as an investment.  It allows us two weeks, twice a year, six months apart which means that we are always planning the next trip and all the things we want to do.

(A time-share is similar but there you buy time, not the property itself.)

Be prepared to dream!

Screaming fun art everywhere!

It’s that time again for the quarterly GIVEAWAY for Level Three Members (Pain au Chocolat) of the Paris Fan Club.

Congrats Kim!

Here’s what she has won!

All three of Janine Marsh’s Books … all THREE!

My Good Life in France, In Pursuit of the Rural Dream; My Four Seasons in France: A Year of the Good Life, and Toujours La France: Living the Dream in Rural France.

The story: Janine Marsh and her husband bought a dilapidated farmhouse in Northern France for a song while on a trip from the UK simply to get some cheap French wine. Their adventures adjusting to life in a small French town with all sorts of interesting characters will have you hooked and wondering when Janine’s fourth book is coming out!

Diana, just joined your blog after reviewing the recording of our first annual meeting last January for the Nice apartment Le Palais Du Soleil when you mentioned womanofacertainageinparis – will be going back to Nice in February just in time for Carnival to start. Hope to meet in person one day.
