Today I go LIVE with my NEW Paris Book Club!

I have created a comprehensive list of Personal Memoirs written by WOMEN about their adventures in Paris and other parts of la belle France.

I’ve  personally read and reviewed each one of these books and they are on my website under BOOK CLUB.

Interview Series

Later this year and in 2021, I will be also inviting the authors to join us in a LIVE webinar series where I will interview these accomplished writers about their lives and their work.

Up close and personal — with an opportunity for you to interact with them.

I did a lot of interviews in my journalism and communications careers.

So, maybe we cannot get to Paris right now, and perhaps even for a long while.

But we  can transport ourselves there with personal stories that will make our hearts beat faster!

Just a sampling, and keep reading…I am launching a Contest for some Free Books below that you don’t want to miss!

    Hi Diana,

great list of books! Here is a new one you should consider adding: https://www.thenewparisienne.com, written by a fellow journalist. Going to Lindsey’s book launch on Tuesday!

I cannot believe my luck in finding this list of books…I want to read all of them…
When I visit my daughter in Paris, one of my first visits is to The American Library …
Anyone whose passion is reading will know how thrilling it is to browse through a library but also how frustrating it is finding books one will enjoy … which is why it is a dream come true to find a virtual list of memoirs, my favourite reading material…there is nothing better to me than a book which I hate to leave down and hate to see end…
Thankyou Diana for these leads, I will read every one of them …
For the contest my choice of book is “Dinner Chez Moi” by Elizabeth Bard…
      …now which one shall I purchase…hmm…a tough choice…a bientot…(I think that is right) 🤔☘️😆☘️🙏🏻☘️

    Good Morning
I would love to read all the books listed…. my first choice would be
MY (PART-TIME) PARIS LIFE by Lisa Anselmo
    Cheers‼️

  3. Gretchen Greene O'Brien on July 5, 2020 at 9:25 am

The Sky is the Limit, so to speak! Go for it!

    • Diana Bishop on July 5, 2020 at 9:48 am

      Thank you Gretchen!!!

I love the list of books…I have read two from your list. Will start reading with Do Not Go Gentle, Go To Paris by Gail Thorell Schilling. I have my summer reading list! Will help me recover from not being able to be in Paris in June to celebrate retirement! My 6 best friends and I had been planning the trip for 2 years. As soon as life allows, we will make new plans for our Paris adventure.

    • Diana Bishop on July 6, 2020 at 9:26 am

That seems to be a popular choice with everyone. Good one.
I know. How disappointing not to be able to go to Paris this year.
I hope you are rearranging the trip for next year! It will make it all the sweeter by then,
and you will have your retirement all worked out but then.
In the meantime, yes, we read! I find reading these books I can escape and keep the anticipation of
my next trip to France going! Thank you for the comment Lynn! Diana

We, both my husband and I, are currently reading Bobbi French’s “Finding Me in Paris”. We oiled love to read “Passion for Province”, as we have a little or maybe big plan in the works!

Thanks again for an interesting read with my Sunday morning coffee on the balcony, Diana! Always a pleasure to see your life expanding.

  6. Kelly on July 5, 2020 at 2:31 pm

I have read so many Paris memoirs that I will often choose a book at the library and once starting it, realize I’ve already read it! One of my favorites on your list was Paris Letters. I led the discussion on it in our book club and so many people enjoyed it. Bringing up Bebe was another fun book. The last time I was in Paris I noticed how well behaved French children were In public settings compared to many American children. This book helped me to understand the French philosophy to parenting.

I’d love to try Seven Letters from Paris. How can you go wrong with a love story and a reunion in midlife? Thank you for the wonderful list!

    • Cheryl Kothe on July 5, 2020 at 4:01 pm

What a wonderful idea! I look forward to the Webinars! I’ll choose Paris Times Eight!

      Merci bien!

A beautiful book! You will love it. Deidre is a great writer!
Thanks for entering the contest and I will keep you posted. Diana

    • Diana Bishop on July 5, 2020 at 4:39 pm

Hi Kelly — Seven Letters is a wonderful story. I have been in touch with the author and she will be
one of my live interviews I hope coming up in the next phase of my expanded offerings. Thanks for the comment
and entering the contest. I will keep you posted as to the winners next week, Diana

Wow .. so many books by women about their time in France. I belong to another book club (online) and will forward this list to the woman that runs it so she can pick a couple.

In the past, I read everything by Peter Mayle and last year I watched the Maigret TV shows on PBS Buffalo with Rowan Atkinson as Maigret.

I think I’ll choose Waking Up In Paris by Sonia Choquette as the book I’ll start with even if I don’t win!

    • Diana Bishop on July 5, 2020 at 4:36 pm

Thank you Trudy. That is a great choice. I loved it. I too love the Peter Mayle series but I have not seen
the Maigret TV series on PBS. I am sure they will re-run it and will watch out for it. Thanks for entering the contest
and I will name the winners next week! Best to you, Diana

  8. Donna on July 6, 2020 at 11:01 am

Thank you, Diana for this terrific list. Memoirs are a favourite read. Still deciding where to start.

    • Diana Bishop on July 6, 2020 at 3:17 pm

Donna, Thanks so much for commenting! Means a lot to me your support.
You might like “Do Not Go Gentle, Go to Paris.” Good place to start. Diana
