Paris New Year News
Happy New to You All
Welcome Back!
I hope the holiday season brought you precious time with loved ones, lots of fun, and perhaps some reflection.
Do you have travel plans for 2024?
It will be a big year for Paris with the Olympics coming up this summer.
Notre Dame Cathedral News
Also for Notre Dame Cathedral. The painstaking renovations after the fire in 2019 are scheduled to be completed by next December.
Work on the spire that toppled after being consumed by fire, is well on its way to completion any day now!
They have already hoisted the new golden rooster on top!
Eiffel Tower News
The 130-year-old Eiffel Tower, the most popular landmark in the world, will shut down for repairs and renovations on January 9th for a month.
So if you are traveling to Paris, keep that in mind.
Emily in Paris Season 4
With the cliffhanger of the Season Three Finale, the next season of Emily in Paris was a sure thing.
The writers’ strike this past year put the filming on hold.
Good news though — IF you are a fan — filming starts again this month and the show should air later this year.
Since they usually shoot the series in the summer, it will be fun how Emily and the gang shift to a dazzling winter wardrobe!

The Paris Club Workshops!
There are FIVE Workshops annually exclusive to Paris Fan Club Members.
Here are the first two in my 2024 Lineup:
Wednesday, February 21st
“Unleash YOUR French Chic”
with Marie-Anne Lecoeur
Marie-Anne Lecoeur was supposed to do this workshop with us last year but had a death in the family and could not accommodate us.
In February she is committed to Unleash your French Chic, an interactive workshop designed specifically for women of a certain age where we will explore and practice what it is that French women know about being chic and elegant.
Requirements: Bring your Favourite Scarf, Winter, Spring, Fall, or Summer, a square shape or a rectangle, or both to learn how to tie a scarf like the French!
Wednesday, March 20th
“Toujours Provence”
with Dee Pocquette
If you enjoy Peter Mayle’s books about his life in Provence, you will enjoy this program with Provence tour operator and guide Dee Pocquette of Jackdaw Journeys, and a special guest or two for an intimate portrait of a getaway vacation to intimate and authentic Provence.
Dee’s love affair with Provence began more than a decade ago after she attended her first cooking school at Julia Child’s home in Plascassier and now she guides at least TWO tours to France’s most beloved region.
With Dee, we will explore the hilltop medieval villages of Èze, and St. Paul de Vence, the seaside wonders of Cassis and Les Calanques, the inland villages of St.-Remy-de-Provence, and L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.
Dee’s Provence is not just cities and towns, it is flower and antique markets, sumptuous meals, glorious vistas, local wineries, and perfumeries.
You won’t want to miss this!

Gretchen
I went to Aix en Provence in 1971 right after I graduated from university. I took a 4 week course called “French for non-French speaking people:” All of us stayed in the dorms at the university there and I got to know three girls – 2 sisters from Chicago and one girl from Edinburgh. I was 21 and had never travelled that far before – especially alone!!! What a summer!!
Such wonderful memories Trudy. I am thrilled that you are still reading my blog. Thank you.
Now that I have an apartment in Nice, I hope to get to Aix this spring. A long time since I have been there too my friend. All the best, Diana
